The 888poker LIVE series continues in 2026 with its European calendar featuring four main stops. The season kicked off in January in Madrid, moved to Glasgow, and players can still look forward to Barcelona (May 14-24) and finally the London season finale at The Vic Casino (October 8-18).
Last night, we witnessed the crowning of the champion at the Glasgow stop, where the £888 event attracted 348 entries, creating a £264,480 prizepool. Austrian player Martin Lechner came out on top after a heads-up deal, taking home £57,515, while runner-up Richard Kellett earned £44,745 for his efforts.
You could even watch the final table of this tournament via a live stream:
Lechner's triumph was all the more impressive as he didn’t start the final table as the chipleader. After Day 2, Zexuan Huang led with 1,960,000 in chips, while Lechner began in second position with a stack of 1,755,000. The final table featured an unusual twist - four players, Richard Kellett, Dean Hutchison, Bryan Taylor, and Gaoyang Yang, had just days before made it to the final table of the Mini Main Event.
The defining moment of the final table was a miraculous one-outer that occurred in the last four players. On the flop of K s J h 3 h, Lechner found himself all-in with K d T h, up against A h K h held by Richard Kellett. As the other players had folded a ten, Lechner needed a specific card to survive. The poker gods delivered, as the T d appeared on the river.
From that point on, it was destiny that nothing would stop Lechner from claiming the trophy and coveted title. After John Clements exited in third place for £26,950, the tournament moved to heads-up, where Lechner and Kellett struck an ICM deal. This deal awarded Lechner £47,000, Kellett £44,000, with £10,300 still up for grabs.
Though Kellett took the lead briefly in the final showdown, it was all over within 20 minutes. On a river of Q h 7 h 7 c J d 9 h, Kellett pushed all-in with two pairs, J s 9 s, but Lechner made the correct call with 8 h 6 h. This granted him his first career title and a reward of £57,515.

“It's amazing! It's my first 888 Live tournament, and the trophy means even more to me than the money. I'm definitely looking forward to participating in the May stop in Barcelona. I've been playing poker for about 18 years, but it's always been a hobby. This year, I decided to take it more seriously, and I'm thrilled to see it pay off like this!”
