The 888poker UKPL Blackpool Main Event with a £560 buy-in carried a £100,000 guarantee, but player interest significantly surpassed it. The tournament recorded 318 entries, boosting the prize pool to £151,050. There were payouts for 38 positions, and among those who cashed were notable British poker figures like Brandon Sheils, Alli Mallu, Richard Kellett, 888poker ambassador Ian Simpson, and Robert Douras.

The final table had the classic British tournament atmosphere: local regulars, experienced players, coin flips, and several pivotal confrontations. Chris Flint exited in 9th place when his sixes couldn't hold against Frankie Mok's queens. He was followed by Yucel “Mad Turk” Eminoglu. Other eliminations included Gaoyang Yang, Bryan Taylor, and Peter Charalambous, a veteran of the British scene, who with his 97th cash approached the $1,000,000 mark in tournament winnings.

Also in the final three was Brian Clarke, the event's 2008 champion, but this time he fell victim to a flip with pocket queens against Lilian Welch’s A-K. A king on the board advanced the 83-year-old to a heads-up battle against Frankie Mok. Mok first lost a significant portion of his stack with A-9 against K-Q and eventually the rest.

After the final board was dealt, Blackpool witnessed one of the most beautiful stories of the season. Lilian Welch is no stranger to the poker scene, with 71 ITM finishes in Blackpool, totaling more than $50,000. She now adds a prestigious trophy and a £31,390 reward. Her story is even more charming because she admitted after her victory that she plays poker mainly for fun. Money wasn't her main motive, and she often doesn’t even know how much she has won when finishing in the money. This time, however, the sum was impossible to overlook.
