The Australian Poker Cup, with a buy-in of 1,150 AUD, attracted a total of 441 entries, generating a prize pool of 441,000 AUD ($317,520). The top 56 players reached the money.
Ailen Ji entered the nine-handed final table in 7th place but steadily climbed the ranks. The pivotal moment of the tournament came in the final four players when Ji made an incredible hero call with K-4 on a board of A-J-6-2-5 against Filip Radic's all-in bluff with Q-10. This bold move catapulted him to the chipleader position.
In the final hand of the tournament, Ji with A-Q overcame Ross Coveney's J-J when he hit a winning queen on the turn.
