Main Event: Allen Shen's Unstoppable 'Start-to-Finish' Performance

The Main Event, with a buy-in of 2,500 CAD, attracted a massive field of 1,781 entries, creating a prize pool of 4,042,870 CAD. The star of the tournament was Allen Shen, who delivered a performance rarely seen in such large competitions. Shen led the tournament right from the start, seizing the chiplead on Day 1A and maintaining his lead throughout Day 2 and onto the final table.

Shen described his tournament journey as a "smooth sail", although he faced a brief challenge from Pei Li, who took the lead temporarily after a series of winning hands.

However, Shen kept his composure, and a pivotal moment came when he won a massive pot against Weiping Guo. Holding a 6-7, Shen beat his opponent's aces thanks to a runner-runner flush, securing a commanding stack he never relinquished. The final heads-up against his Chinese opponent lasted less than 20 minutes, and Shen walked away with a record-breaking 605,000 CAD and his third WSOPC ring.
