Ben Tollerene Dominates Triton Main Event for $3,766,000, Jesse Lonis Clinches Fourth Title

Article cover

Ben's victory brought an impressive story, as Tollerene faced a significant setback during the tournament. A massive clash with Philip Sternheimer left him with only nine blinds. While many might have seen this as the end, the American remained undeterred. He reset, rebuilt his stack, returned to the top of the chip count, and entered the final day as the chipleader with 10,875,000 in chips.

The final table had everything you'd expect from Triton. The nine-player lineup was filled with familiar faces, and from the start, it was clear that with the pressure of blinds and ICM, there was no room for lengthy waiting. The first to exit the final was Brazilian Felipe Ketzer, followed by a major confrontation as Tom Fuchs ran kings into Sternheimer's aces, finishing eighth for $464,000.

Key moments continued to favor Ben, who first eliminated Xu Yang and then Sean Winter soon after. When the field narrowed to five players, one of the craziest hands occurred: Punnat Punsri held pocket fours and looked poised for a double on a J-4-7 flop. However, Sternheimer found two more jacks on the turn and river, sending the Thai player home in fifth place for $1,146,000.

Great attention was also on Kristen Foxen. The Canadian was on the brink of historic female achievements within Triton and the tournament poker scene overall, but her run was halted by Tollerene as well. His A-K stood strong against her A-6, leaving Foxen in fourth place for $1,449,000, marking her biggest cash in her career.

Third place in the tournament went to Elton Tsang, who couldn't find his usual aggressive rhythm at the final table. He called Tollerene's all-in with A-3 against K-6, which was ahead, but a king on the flop reversed the advantage. Tsang secured $1,787,000, and Tollerene entered the heads-up against Sternheimer with a significant lead.

This concluded the entire storyline. On one side, there was Sternheimer, the man who almost eliminated Tollerene earlier in the event. On the other, Tollerene, who had risen from the ashes. In the decisive hand, Ben limped from the button with Doyle's hand, 10-2; Sternheimer checked with K-7, and the 2-A-10 flop opened the doors to victory for the American. A 6 on the turn gave the Brit a nut flush draw, but a deuce on the river completed Tollerene's full house. Sternheimer attempted a bluff jam, and Tollerene called without much thought. It was over.

Retribution was complete, and the Triton Main Event had its champion. This victory marked Tollerene's second Triton Main Event title, following his $100,000 PLO Main Event win in Montenegro last year, accompanied by his fourth series trophy. According to official reports, he crossed the $16,000,000 mark in total Triton earnings.

Fourth Title for Jesse Lonis

Outside the spotlight of the Main Event, action continued with the $50,000 NLH Bounty Quattro. This tournament featured 46 entries, a prize pool of $2,300,000, and a unique format where the last 12 players each carried a $60,000 bounty on their heads.

The champion of this event was Jesse Lonis, who surged through the final phase. Of the nine possible bounty tokens, he collected eight, and along with a base prize of $474,000, he added $540,000 from bounties, leaving the event as the biggest winner of the evening without question.

For Lonis, this marks his fourth title in the Triton series, reinforcing his dominance. He approached the final table as the dominant leader, controlled it from the first hand, amassed knockouts, handled flips, and left opponents with scraps. In an event intended to be a lottery of short levels and bounty pressure, he played with precision, knowing exactly when to apply pressure. And this time, almost everything went his way.
