It's all over. The historic first open Main Event of the Swedish Poker Championships, held at Banco Bratislava, has found its champion, who took home not only a financial prize but also a trophy and a champion's ring for 2026. The opening days brought in 489 entries, just shy of surpassing the guarantee.
Yesterday marked the final day, with all 49 qualifiers from the opening rounds taking part in the quest to crown the Main Event champion, who was set to receive a handsome €46,120. All who advanced were guaranteed a min-cash of €1,375. The finale featured an international field of players vying for the inaugural open Main Event title of the Swedish Poker Championships.
After several hours of play, the final table lineup was revealed, featuring a mix of Swedish players alongside competitors from Poland, Italy, Russia, Slovakia, and Norway.
The last four players agreed on an ICM deal, ensuring each a significant win. Following this, a play-off took place, where experienced Swedish player Lars Christer Johansson shone, taking home €31,550 and the first open Main Event title, keeping it in Swedish hands. Local player Denis Dox also had a fantastic result, earning €9,100 for his sixth-place finish. Congratulations!
