EPT Monte Carlo: Binder's Total Dominance in the Main Event Continues

Article cover

Bernhard Binder Dominated the Day from Start to Finish

The penultimate day of the Main Event with a €5,300 buy-in is usually filled with tension and shifts in the chipleader position, but Austrian player Bernhard Binder completely altered this narrative. Binder, who started the day as the interim leader, ended the day right where he began – at the top of the leaderboard.

He utilized his stack with surgical precision, responsible for eliminating four out of the twelve players who exited the tournament on Day 5.

Notable eliminations on Day 5 included big names like Day 2 chipleader Rodrigo Selouan (14th place), the last remaining EPT Main Event champion Ognyan Dimov (13th place), and well-known professional Jason Wheeler (11th place).

Binder sealed the final eight by eliminating Leonardo Maue in 9th place, securing the remaining players a minimum payout of €99,450. Binder now has the opportunity to add an EPT Main Event title to his victory from the Super Main Event at WSOP Paradise 2025.

As the world closely watches the dramatic Main Event, a different extraordinary narrative unfolded in the side events. Irish professional Conor O'Driscoll became the only player in this year's event to win two separate events.

O'Driscoll claimed his first Monte Carlo title in the €1,100 NLH tournament. In a field of 307 entries, he emerged victorious, defeating American Jesse Yaginuma in heads-up and taking home €60,290.
