Fedor Holz Reigns at Triton Again: Wins Mystery Bounty in Montenegro and Secures Fifth Title

Article cover

The tournament with a $40,000 buy-in attracted a total of 111 entries, boosting the total prize pool to $4,440,000. Half of this sum was allocated to placement rewards, while the other half went into the Mystery Bounty pool.

The journey to the final table was marked by an incredible run from Fedor Holz. He also burst the money bubble in a triple all-in with 6 h 4 h on a board of 2 s 6 c 7 d 3 s 4 s, defeating Kiata Lee's K s K c and Alex Theologis's J s J h. This hand gave Holz a massive stack of 255 big blinds, virtually ensuring his spot in the finals.

Though his fellow countryman Leonard Maue entered the final day as the leader, the final table was dominated by Holz from the start. The fact that Holz bagged 11 bounty envelopes, each with a minimum value of $40,000, speaks volumes.

Heading into the final showdown, Holz had a commanding lead of almost 5:1 over Ponakovs. The players agreed on an ICM deal, playing for the trophy and an additional $20,000. Ponakovs then staged a remarkable comeback, winning 13 hands in a row and briefly taking the lead. However, a second Triton title was not to be for the Latvian professional.

The pivotal moment came when Ponakovs attempted a massive bluff on a board of 9 s K s Q h 5 s K h with T h 3 s, but Holz made a brilliant call with Q c T s, sealing his victory.
