German Invasion in Rozvadov: ROMEO Crowned GCCOP Champion at King's Resort

Article cover

The GCCOP confirmed its popularity, drawing a huge number of players to Rozvadov. A total of 2,316 entries were recorded, meaning that with a buy-in of €250, the €500,000 guarantee was nearly reached.

The final table brought several surprises. Danijel “Jugoooo” Krstinic entered as a clear chipleader, but failed to maintain his position and was eliminated in 5th place without reaching any deal. Historically successful player Paul Covaciu from Romania, with over $1.5 million in winnings, ended his run in 8th place.

The pivotal moment came in the final four, when players agreed on an ICM deal in the early hours, leaving €13,500 aside for the top two (with €9,500 for the winner and €4,000 for the runner-up in the heads-up). At the time of the deal, Seiyd Tiwa Ghoraishi was the chipleader, and although he later fell in 3rd place, he secured €40,000.

The closing heads-up battle between ROMEO and Dillicious lasted exactly 28 hands. In the final hand, ROMEO dominated with A d K d against his opponent's J d T d, with the board showing no surprise to clinch his victory.
