The Main Event of the Asian Poker Tour festival at Jeju Shinhwa World attracted a total of 1,375 entries. With a $2,000 buy-in, the prize pool soared to 3,207,600,000 KRW (~$2,393,730), and the winner was set to receive a reward of approximately $415,000.
An eight-member lineup advanced to the final day, led significantly by the eventual winner Jianfeng Sun. The entire final table lasted just 90 hands and less than four and a half hours of pure playtime, making it the second-fastest final table in the modern history of the APT circuit.
The action picked up a thrilling pace from the first minutes, and Sun seemed unstoppable. Throughout nearly the entire final table, he maintained a significant lead and exerted pressure on the other players at the table.
The only one who could match the eventual winner was Singaporean Steve Ng. He entered the heads-up with a 3:2 lead after eliminating the duo of Toby Joyce and Kwang Chung Tan. The players decided to strike a heads-up deal, and Steve Ng secured the largest financial share from the prize pool.
In the play-off for the remaining 23.6 million KRW (~$17,610) and the Gold Mega Lion trophy, Sun shifted into a higher gear. In the final hand of the tournament, Ng went all-in with K d T h, and Sun called with A d 4 s. The board 6 c Q c 7 d 3 d 2 d missed both players, allowing Sun's ace to clinch his overall victory.
Sun was close to the title already in 2024, when he also advanced to the heads-up in the Main Event, but he finally claimed the coveted trophy now.
