This year's EPF drew a massive turnout, with Main Event entries reaching 3,141. Despite the €299 buy-in, the guaranteed prizepool of €1,000,000 was not met.
The final day began with the last ten players, and the final table bubble burst following the elimination of Ukrainian player Jakee. One of the most compelling stories at the final table was the rise of Israel's Yoram Simon. He managed to recover from a critical five big blinds and fought his way to a fourth-place finish.
As the last three players remained, the tension from the substantial financial jumps led to a deal discussion. Kaizen, Valentin Dumitra, and Stefan Dill agreed to divide the main portion of the prizepool, leaving €20,700 and the trophy to play for.
The final showdown between Kaizen and Dumitra was relaxed and full of friendly banter. Although Dumitra eliminated several opponents throughout the day and held the lead for most of it, Kaizen managed to tip the balance in his favor. In the decisive hand, Kaizen won a flip with 6 d 6 c against A c 7 h on a board of 5 s 5 d 4 d 9 c 9 d, sealing his triumph.
