The WSOPC Turning Stone Main Event, with a buy-in of $1,700, comfortably surpassed its initial million-dollar guarantee. A total of 996 entries pushed the final prize pool to an impressive $1,508,940.
For Kyle Grupp, this victory was particularly sweet. Three years ago (in March 2023), he entered the same tournament's final table as the chipleader but ended up in 4th place, taking home $94,274. This time, he started the final day from 4th position in chips and even predicted to his friends that he was coming for the title.
The final table was a relatively swift affair, lasting just under five hours. In the concluding heads-up match, Grupp faced Joel Cattelane, who entered with a 2:1 chip lead. However, Grupp's patient play allowed him to take control, and in the decisive hand, he secured a pair with J s 9 d on a board of K c 9 s 7 c T s 2 h, which was enough to beat Cattelane's A c 3 c.
Along with his first ring and the biggest win of his career, Grupp also earned a $5,000 package for the WSOP Paradise festival in the Bahamas.
