Local Favorite Francisco Garrido Dominates the Partypoker Tour Sevilla Main Event

Article cover

The popular Partypoker Tour series moved from England to the warm south, specifically to Seville, Spain. The Main Event's €500 buy-in attracted 383 entries, creating a prize pool of €170,435. The festival at Casino Admiral Sevilla further confirmed that the Spanish stop is of great significance to the Partypoker Tour. Over the week, organizers recorded 1,715 entries across the program, with total prize pools reaching €364,840.

The biggest shares of the Main Event bank were at stake on the final day, where the last 13 players competed. The spotlight of the day was on team partypoker member Barbara Jiménez, who carried high expectations on home soil. She delivered by making it to the final table, facing eight opponents from her home country.

Live stream recording from the final day:

Francisco Garrido held the position of chipleader but, despite this advantage, he didn't play as someone trying to dictate the tempo from the start. Instead, he patiently waited for the right spots, then capitalized on them fully. The final table gradually narrowed down, with the eliminations of José López, Carlos Gutierrez Garcia, Manuel Antonio Delgado, and Rubén Pérez Correa. When José Aguilera fell in fourth place, and José María Nieto Martin took third, it was clear the title would go to either Garrido or Jiménez.

The heads-up provided the perfect climax to the entire festival. On one side was Francisco Garrido Cruz, on the other, Barbara Jiménez, who, in her first major home performance under the partypoker brand, ran deep and came to the brink of the title. After seven hours of play, the decisive moment came in Garrido's favor.

The winner was decided in a preflop all-in/call where Jiménez was up against Garrido's pair of J h J d with her A h 9 h. The board of 2 h 4 d 5 c Q d K s didn't bring any surprises, securing Garrido's victory and relegating Jiménez to second place with €20,035. Consequently, Sevilla crowned its new champion, Francisco Garrido Cruz, with a €30,500 prize.
