The 888LIVE London festival at Grosvenor Victoria Casino delivered an array of compelling stories. Following Bryan Taylor's emotional triumph in the High Roller, focus shifted to the Main Event finale, where Marius Conan shone. While his older brother Arthur took fifth place in the High Roller, Marius saw his journey through to the Main Event trophy.
The Main Event, with a £1,250 buy-in, recorded 379 entries at Grosvenor Victoria Casino, generating a £396,050 prizepool. Prizes were set for the top 50 players. Conan entered the final table as the chipleader but slipped to a short stack. A crucial double-up with J-J against Nikolay Ponomarev's A-K revitalized his position. He reclaimed the lead, heading into the heads-up with a significant advantage.
The Final Hand Sealed with a Straight and Turn Tension
Cohen managed to stay in the game until a decisive confrontation at blinds 100,000/200,000. Conan shoved all-in from the button with A c T d, and his opponent called with his remaining 1,400,000 holding K h T c.
The flop K c Q d J d gave Cohen top pair, but Conan already held the best possible straight. The turn K d added drama as Cohen made trips, leaving him with outs for a full house or quads on the river. The final card 6 c dashed his hopes. Conan claimed the title and £91,170, while the runner-up took home £60,550.
