A Golden Week for Martin Lenoch
Lenoch’s journey to glory began days before the main tournament. He showcased his stellar form in Event #5: €680 NLH Monsterstack, where he topped a field of 282 entries. For this victory, he pocketed €35,362 and claimed his very first WSOPC ring.
But that was just an appetizer. In the prestigious €1,500 Main Event, which drew a massive 851 entries, Lenoch dominated once again. The huge turnout pushed the prizepool to an impressive €1,114,384, more than doubling the half-million guarantee. Lenoch entered the final day as the undisputed chipleader, thanks to a gigantic pot against the then-leader Heskey Selva at the end of Day 2.
The composition of the final table was a clear testament to the strength of German poker, with five German players among the top nine. Throughout the day, Lenoch maintained his lead, although his compatriot Lorenz Freitag posed a significant challenge.
Freitag entered the final heads-up with a strong lead, but Lenoch showcased patience and resilience. He gradually took control and in the decisive hand read Freitag’s big bluff with A h 5 d on the board 2 d T c Q d 6 d K h. Lenoch called with 8 d 7 d and could begin celebrating.
Besides the fairy-tale financial prize of €200,384, Martin Lenoch also earned a second gold ring within a week, a winner's trophy, and another WSOP Paradise package valued at $5,000.
