Brunson's Heartbreaking Exit
The most emotional story of the day was written by Todd Brunson. The Hall of Famer was aiming for the title exactly 50 years after his father Doyle Brunson's first triumph. Todd started Day 8 as a short stack but had a fantastic start, pulling off a "triple-up" when his A-K hit an ace on the river against Brock Wilson’s kings and the then-leader Malcolm Trayner’s queens.

Half an hour later, shock struck. Brunson went all-in with A-A against Trayner's A-J in a massive pot. Although Todd was a clear favorite after the turn, the river gave Trayner a flush, knocking Todd out in 20th place with $325,000.

Former Champion’s Hope Fades
The last player in the field who knew what it felt like to win this tournament was 2019 champion Hossein Ensan. He held his stack steady for a long time, but Michael Gagliano ended his run. In the deciding hand, Ensan’s A-Q fell to Gagliano’s K-K. Despite the board giving him two pairs, his opponent completed a set, and Ensan exited in 13th place for $510,000.

The reigning Player of the Year, Shaun Deeb, met a similar fate. After the evening break, he went all-in on the flop with an open-ended straight draw against Rami Hammoud’s top pair. Deeb didn’t hit his card and finished the tournament in 15th place for $410,475.

True to his reputation as a "poker maniac," Deeb registered for two more bracelet events just minutes after being knocked out, chasing points for the POY leaderboard.
Jumalon's Dominance
The undisputed star of the day was young American Lucas Jumalon. He put on a dominant performance, eliminating several opponents and ballooning his stack to an incredible 194 million chips — more than double his closest competitor.
Jumalon also delivered the final blow of the day, eliminating former leader Malcolm Trayner in 10th place. The Australian Aussie Millions champion, starting Day 8 as the chipleader, faced a bitter fall on the final table bubble but still pocketed $750,000.
The grand finale will take place from August 3 to 5, with each finalist guaranteed a minimum payout of $1,000,000. The winner will walk away with a life-changing $10,000,000 and a gold bracelet, marking them as the world champion.
