The WPT Cyprus Championship Main Event, with a buy-in of $3,500, attracted a diverse international field to the gaming floors. During the three initial flights and the start of Day 2, when late registration closed, participation climbed to 520 entries. The total number of registrations, however, fell short of the predetermined $2,000,000 guarantee.
After Day 2, the field narrowed to 45 players, with Niko Koop leading the way. He amassed a massive stack of 1,750,000 chips (117 big blinds). His nearest challenger, Sergiu Cornea, is trailing by just three big blinds. This duo has built a solid lead over the rest of the starting field as Day 3 begins.
