Olivier Desbrueres Wins IPS Summer Edition, Taking Home Over 100,000 Euros

The summer edition of the prestigious Italian festival IPS attracted players with a guaranteed prizepool of €1,500,000, drawing 3,979 entries thanks to a favorable buy-in of €380.

In addition to monetary rewards, the top ten players were offered an exclusive €3,000 tournament package for the upcoming King's Million European Championship, scheduled from September 16 to October 7.

The final table kicked off at a breathtaking pace, with the eventual winner securing the first two eliminations. German player Andy Bauer met an unlucky end, going all-in with A-Q against Israeli Halal’s K-J. Bauer hit a queen on the flop, but a king on the river knocked him out in 5th place.

After Bauer's elimination, four players with relatively even stacks decided to discuss an ICM deal. The players quickly agreed, leaving the trophy, €10,800 for the runner-up, and €25,250 for the winner at stake.

Czech player Matej Fendrych finished third, running A-3 into Olivier Desbrueres' full house with A-4. Desbrueres then entered heads-up against Romanian Ionut Kishka with a 2:1 lead. Kishka, a successful online cash game grinder, swiftly overturned the disadvantage and took the lead.

The turning point came in a massive hand when Desbrueres went all-in with A c 3 s and Kishka called with K s T d. The board 2 h K d 2 c 4 d 5 h completed an incredible straight for the Frenchman, giving him a commanding 10:1 lead!

In the final hand, Kishka pushed his last chips with Q c 7 s. Olivier Desbrueres called with Q d 3 s and a flopped three sealed the deal, sending the golden trophy to France.
