PartyPoker Tour Hits Glasgow: Jack McMullan Dominates Record-Breaking Mini Main Event

Glasgow marks the third UK stop of the 2026 season, and the early days have already shown that players flocked to the Scottish capital in large numbers. The biggest testament was the £150 Mini Main Event, setting a record-breaking entry with 701 entries. Player interest significantly surpassed last year's figures, and the £87,625 prize pool confirmed that PartyPoker Tour consistently attracts strong fields even with affordable buy-ins.

Heading into the final day as chipleader was Oliver Hutchins with a stack of 6,330,000, but a compelling poker storyline unfolded with Joe Beevers, PartyPoker Tour ambassador and co-founder of The Hendon Mob, a respected figure in the UK poker scene. The final table kicked off at a rapid pace. Craig McCairns was the first to exit, finishing ninth for £1,160. He was followed by Mark Johnston, who found himself in a rough spot against McMullan's kings, taking home £1,530 for eighth place.

The tournament pace picked up significantly after the first break. Both Abdul Mukit and Max Sinclair were eliminated almost immediately upon returning, narrowing the field to the final five players. Much attention was on Joe Beevers. "The Elegance" made it to the final five, but even the poker legend's experience couldn't match the momentum of McMullan. The PartyPoker Tour ambassador settled for fifth place and £3,600.

Shortly after, Callum Wallace exited, securing £5,180 for fourth place. With the three remaining competitors being closely matched, a deal made sense for all participants. Jack McMullan secured £10,200, Oliver Hutchins £10,000, and Laurence Welch snagged the highest amount of £10,550. However, the trophy and an additional £3,000 remained in play, keeping the finale thrilling.

Welch briefly took the lead before the deal but ultimately finished third. Although he did not claim the title, the deal earned him the biggest payout on the final table – £10,550.

The heads-up between McMullan and Hutchins saw another twist. Hutchins managed to hold on, but it was McMullan who had the final say. In the decisive hand, he achieved a runner-runner straight against Hutchins’ pair, sealing the biggest tournament result of his career – £13,200.

£100,000 Main Event Already Underway

While the Mini Main Event crowned its champion, the festival's biggest tournament has already kicked off. The £500 Main Event with a £100,000 guarantee began with Day 1a on Thursday, August 6th, and continues with subsequent flights on Friday and Saturday. Players start with 50,000 in chips, with 40-minute levels, and late registration open until the beginning of level 10. 25% of each flight progresses to Day 2.

The PartyPoker Tour Glasgow is far from being just about the Main Event. The schedule remains packed until the end of the festival, offering several exciting side events for players. On Friday, August 7th, events include the £250 PLO Masters Main Event Day 1a, satellites to the Main Event and PLO Masters, the £60 Tennessee Hold’em Glasgow Championship, and the evening £60 poker.pro Friday Party Madness Crazy Pineapple Bounty.

Saturday, August 8th includes the final starting flight of the Main Event, Day 2 of the main tournament, more flights for the £250 PLO Masters Main Event, a £200 NLH event supported by Faded Spade, and the £60 poker.pro Saturday Party Madness NLH Red River Bounty.

The festival’s grand finale arrives on Sunday, August 9th. Alongside the concluding day of the £500 Main Event, Day 2 of the £250 PLO Masters Main Event, a £250 Mystery Bounty, a £1,000 High Roller 7-Max, the £150 NLH Last Chance, and finally the £60 PLO Masters Sunday Party Madness 4/5/6 Double Board will all be held.
