Poker Masters 2026: Sean Winter Triumphs in $51K Event, But Adrian Mateos Secures the Purple Jacket

Article cover

The final event with the highest buy-in of $51,000 saw 31 entries, boosting the total prize pool to $1,550,000, the largest of the whole Poker Masters 2026.

The final day began with seven remaining players, but the monetary rewards were reserved for the top five. Chris Brewer was the unfortunate bubble boy, as his A-J couldn't hold against Jeremy Ausmus's pocket Aces.

The key moment of the festival arrived with four players left. Jeremy Ausmus needed to finish on top to claim the Purple Jacket. In a blind-vs-blind clash, he went all-in with 5-5 against Winter's A-K. An Ace on the turn and another on the river ended his run at 4th place, awarding Adrian Mateos the series victory.

Igor Yaroshevskyy from Ukraine finished in 3rd place, and in the final heads-up, Winter faced his friend Sam Laskowitz. In the decisive hand, Winter's 6 c 5 s overpowered Laskowitz's top pair with Q s 2 s on the board 5 h Q h 6 s 3 h 8 c, securing the title and $620,000. Laskowitz took home $387,500 for the second place, achieving a personal best for the second time in October.

Adrian Mateos Crowned Poker Masters 2026 Champion

Even though Adrian Mateos didn’t finish in the money in the final three events, his earlier performances secured his overall victory in the Poker Masters 2026 series. The Spanish prodigy achieved three in-the-money finishes across ten tournaments, winning Event #5, placing second in Event #2, and fourth in Event #7. He amassed a total of 451 PGT points and won $467,700.

Interestingly, Mateos experienced five bubble eliminations during the festival aside from his three final tables. Despite such incredible misfortune, he takes home the iconic Purple Jacket and a $25,000 bonus in the form of a PGT Passport.
