The WSOPC Mexico Main Event with a buy-in of 27,200 MX$ (~1.600$) attracted a field of 781 entries, setting a new historic record for Mexican tournaments. Players created a record-breaking prizepool of 17,844,288 MX$ (~1.051.500$).
The extensive field included elite local players such as José Manuel Nadal, Diego Ponce de León, Christian 'El Grillo' de León, and Luisa Morfin, as well as well-known international figures like Adam Owen and Daniel Neilson.
The final day welcomed nine top finalists, with only one international player, Costa Rican Roberto Mora, in the mix.
Chipleader Carlos Galaviz Landa came into the final day having dominated the previous two days. In contrast, Roberto Suárez started the final table in 7th place. However, Suárez patiently climbed the rankings, with the turning point coming when he knocked out then-leader Galaviz Landa, gaining a huge advantage for the final heads-up.
In the heads-up, Suárez deftly defeated Pablo Girón to secure his dream debut ring. Alongside the 3.2 million pesos (~188.560$) victory, the champion also won a $5,000 package to the December WSOP Paradise festival in the Bahamas.
