How Did the Assault Occur?

According to witnesses, Farha was playing his usual cash game Pot-Limit Omaha with blinds of $1 / $3 / $6 (with a $15 button straddle) at Houston Social Cardroom. The conflict is said to have arisen after a hand in which Farha wasn’t even involved.

Details of the incident were published by PokerNews based on sources who were present during the assault. Two players went all-in on the flop and agreed to run the turn and river twice, with one player eventually winning the entire pot. Both players turned their cards face-up, and dealer Doug Caillier pushed the pot to the winner. However, Farha unexpectedly accused the dealer of taking the losing player's cards from the muck, even though the losing player himself noted that the cards were clearly visible.

Farha then started to verbally abuse the dealer and threatened him with physical violence. When Caillier warned him that such behavior was unacceptable, security intervened. Farha bypassed the security, approached the dealer, and punched him in the chest. Caillier didn’t retaliate and walked away, but Farha attempted to slap him as well.

Swift Response from the Club

The assaulted dealer Doug Caillier is a well-known figure in the poker world. He dealt cards at the WSOP in the iconic Binion's casino in the '90s and has worked in many prestigious casinos in Las Vegas. After the attack, he visited the emergency room in Houston, where he was treated for minor injuries, and the case was officially taken over by the police.

The management of Houston Social Cardroom responded immediately, issuing a lifetime ban to the three-time WSOP bracelet winner.

A Pattern of Behavior

According to several sources in the poker community, Farha's behavior is not an isolated incident but rather a long-standing pattern of inappropriate conduct towards staff.

In December 2021, Farha was involved in a physical altercation at Legends Poker Room with a former dealer known as AJ. This conflict started after Farha played a role in the dealer's dismissal from the 88 Social club. Upon reuniting at Legends, a dispute erupted, during which the dealer slapped Farha and pushed him into a wall. Many local dealers expressed support for AJ, even creating a GoFundMe for his legal costs.

His behavior at the WSOP is also infamous, such as in 2025 during the Big-O tournament, where Farha allegedly shouted obscenities at a dealer, a situation publicly condemned by renowned commentator Jeff Platt.

Social media is rife with other accounts of Farha's various incidents, painting a broader picture of the poker legend's behavior. However, it should be noted that many of these are unverified.
