TMT20: Main Event Rewrites History, Shiina Okamoto Triumphs in High Roller

The Asian poker scene is experiencing an unprecedented boom, with Taipei at the epicenter of action these days. The milestone Taiwan Millions Tournament (TMT20), held at Asia Poker Arena & Red Space, not only met expectations but completely surpassed them. While the Main Event saw a historical turnout, the prestigious High Roller confirmed the dominance of one of today’s biggest female stars.

Shiina Okamoto Dominates High Roller

Japanese pro Shiina Okamoto once again proved why she is among the world’s top stars. Freshly back from the WSOP in Las Vegas, she jumped into the 60,000 TWD High Roller and left no doubts about her skills. Okamoto, who made history as the first player with back-to-back WSOP Ladies Championship titles (2024 and 2025), added another trophy to her rich collection.

The tournament, with a total prizepool of 1.3 million TWD (~$41,135), attracted 25 entries. In the final heads-up, Shiina faced off against South Korean Eosoo Lee, taking first place and cashing 594,000 TWD (~$18,510). Taiwanese representatives Chi Huang and Chejui Chang secured the remaining paid positions.

For Shiina, this victory is significant, coming right after she missed completing a winning hat-trick at the WSOP in June.

Main Event Breaks the 9,000 Entry Barrier

What the organizers achieved in the Main Event with the 9,000 TWD buy-in is unprecedented in the series' history. The Main Event TMT20 attracted an astonishing 9,094 entries, becoming the first Main Event to surpass the nine-thousand mark, breaking the previous record by 616 entries.

Player enthusiasm generated a record-breaking prizepool of 66,786,336 TWD (~2.08 million dollars), easily surpassing the 60-million guarantee. A significant record was set in flight Day 1G, with 1,841 entries, the largest number in a single flight in TMT Main Event history.

What awaits the winner? The future champion will walk away from Taipei with a staggering 7,500,000 TWD (~$231,767), offering one of the best investment-to-return ratios for a buy-in of less than 300 dollars. Each of the nine finalists is guaranteed at least 740,000 TWD.

While the summer’s record-breaking Main Event nears its final phase, the action in Taipei is far from over. Today, the next major draw kicks off—the TMT20 Crown Main Event with a massive $1 million guarantee, promising more thrilling showdowns.
