Dutch Triumph After a Night Marathon
The opening event of the Super High Roller Series in Jeju was the $25,000 Short Deck tournament, originally planned as a one-day affair. However, the action was so intense that the final showdown lasted until 5 a.m. local time. The tournament saw only 40 entries, generating a total prize pool of $975,000.
The champion was Dutch Short Deck specialist Rene Van Krevelen, who after a rollercoaster of excitement secured his first Triton title. He ended a streak of five final tables without claiming a trophy.
In a dramatic heads-up, Van Krevelen defeated Malaysian pro Lun Loon. The decisive card was a king on the flop when hands K c Q c (Van Krevelen) faced off against A c Q d (Loon).
Jason Koon also posted a remarkable result, securing third place despite a late entry and coming close to increasing his record number of 12 Triton titles.
