Matthias Eibinger Makes a Dream Start in the PLO World
Austrian pro Matthias Eibinger has once again proven why he is at the pinnacle of the world's poker elite. Although Eibinger is predominantly known for his success in Hold'em, his transition to Pot Limit Omaha has been nothing short of astonishing.
He only began with this discipline late last year and has already clinched his second Triton title in it. In Jeju, he conquered the $100,000 PLO Main Event, pocketing a massive $1,787,000. Besides the financial reward, he also walked away with an exclusive Jacob & Co Epic X Skeleton watch, reserved only for the champions of main events.
This triumph makes Eibinger just the third player in Triton's history to win two Main Events in different disciplines (having previously triumphed in the NLH Main Event in Monte Carlo 2023). He now has six Triton titles in total, tying for second place in history alongside Punnat Punsri. Simultaneously, he confirmed the superb form of Austrian players, becoming the third winner from this country during the ongoing festival.
At the final table, Eibinger faced elite opponents, including Richard Gryko, Patrik Antonius, and Dan Dvoress. Although he entered heads-up against Gryko at a disadvantage, his patience and timing turned the duel in his favor.

Chan Wai Leong Achieves Title After Ten Years
If you're looking for a poker world's definition of perseverance, it would be Chan Wai Leong. One of the original Triton players who debuted back in 2016, he had to wait a full decade to claim his first trophy. After 23 cashouts and 14 final tables, he finally secured his first title in the $25,000 PLO 6-Handed event.
Leong navigated through a field of 53 entries, taking home $387,000 for his victory. Although he finished as runner-up twice in NLH Main Events in the past, this time he left nothing to chance, maintaining the chipleader position from day one.
His victory sparked excitement in the tournament hall, as Leong is a popular figure, evidenced by the lively celebration with fellow Malaysian stars including Paul Phua. In a dramatic heads-up, he defeated Sean Rafael, even after dropping to a critical stack of 11 big blinds, turning the unfavorable scenario around with a series of double-ups.
