First Triton Title for Alexandros Theologis after an Incredible Heads-Up Hero Call

The festival's opening event, with a friendly $15,000 buy-in, drew a massive field of 206 entries. The tournament generated a total prize pool of $3,090,000, awarding the winner with $642,000. 

Showcasing his poker prowess during the second day, 33-year-old Greek online specialist Alexandros Theologis made a significant statement. Along his journey to the final table, a combination of K-K worked miracles for Theologis. First, he hit quads against Qiang Liu and later completed trips on the flop against Bernhard Binder’s Aces, crushing them brutally.

Despite starting the final table as the standout chipleader, Theologis entered the heads-up play at a 1:2 disadvantage. His major obstacle on the path to victory was the surging Malaysian Victor Chong, who took over the game in the last six hands by eliminating Austria’s Daniel Rezaei and then sending Thai legend Punnat Punsri to the rail in 3rd place.

However, Theologis pulled off a phenomenal comeback. First, he found a straight and amassed enough chips to regain the lead. Later, he made a brilliant hero call that left viewers of the livestream in awe. On a board of 6 h, J c, 9 c, 5 s, K h, Chong bet his remaining 11 blinds as a pure bluff with A c T h. After much deliberation, Theologis called with Q c 9 s.

With his opponent down to the last two blinds, Theologis sealed the heads-up victory two hands later. This marked Theologis' first Triton title, accompanied by a prize of $642,000.

Lim Chin Wei Leads After Triple All-In Bubble

The second event of the festival with a $20,000 buy-in saw similar participation as the opener. A total of 174 entries created a prize pool of $3,480,000.

The first day ended with an incredibly wild bubble finale. A massive clash involved three hefty stacks. Du Qiao held A d K h, Canadian pro Xuan Liu found herself with K c K d, but it was Malaysia’s Lim Chin Wei holding poker’s best starting hand A h A c.

Lim Chin Wei scooped the massive pot on the board of 4 h 8 h T h T s 5 d, sending Du Qiao home as the bubble boy in 28th place and leaving Xuan Liu with just two blinds.

After this spectacular hand, the last 25 players moved on to the final day, each assured a minimum payout of $35,000. But it's all eyes on the trophy and the top prize of $771,000!

Leading the pack as the chipleader is bubble hero Lim Chin Wei with a stack of 4,240,000 chips. Hot on his heels is Austria’s elite pro Matthias Eibinger, bagging 3,535,000 chips, with Jean-Noel Thorel rounding out the top three with 2,660,000.

Big names of global poker, like Jesse Lonis, Christoph Vogelsang, and Daniel Dvoress, remain in the hunt for the title.
