Historic Achievement and Redemption from Last Year
This victory was particularly significant for Dvoress. He became just the third player in history (after Jason Koon and Mike Watson) to complete the so-called Triton Trident. This means he now holds titles in all three major series disciplines: No Limit Hold'em, Pot Limit Omaha, and Short Deck. Ironically, despite being considered a Hold'em specialist, it was in this discipline that Dvoress waited the longest for his first Triton title.
This triumph also served as sweet revenge for the Canadian, who finished second in the same opening event last year after countrywoman Xuan Liu defeated him heads-up. “Last year the cards didn’t fall my way at the end, but this year it was quite the opposite. I hit hand after hand, and everything went incredibly smoothly,” Dvoress commented after his win.

Rapid Heads-up
The opening event confirmed the significant interest in the Triton series, recording 146 entries, which pushed the prize pool to $3,650,000.
Prizes were awarded to the top 23 finishers, with German player Hannes Jeschka facing heartbreak at the money bubble. In two consecutive hands, he held a dominant A-9 against A-4. While the first hand resulted in a split pot against Dvoress, he was left to watch in dismay as a flush on the river completed for Tollerene during the second hand.
The final table was packed with stars like Ben Tollerene, Ding Biao, and series founder Paul Phua. Facing Dvoress in the final showdown was local star Dejan Kaladjurdjevic. Despite Dvoress starting with only a slight lead, the battle for the title lasted just about 20 minutes.
In the tournament's final hand, Dvoress with 3 h 2 s completed a straight on a board of 4 c 9 d 5 s A h 9 h. Kaladjurdjevic with T s 9 c bet all his chips on the river and continues to wait for his first Triton title.
