From Chipleader to Rock Bottom and Back
For Tang, the final day was a rollercoaster ride. Despite entering the finals with the largest stack, a string of unsuccessful hands and a failed massive bluff against Chinese player Wang Ye brought him to his knees. Tang found himself in a critical position, left with only seven big blinds.
Yet, he kept his cool. "I told myself, if I can double up once, I'm back in the game," Tang later shared. He managed the double-up and gradually clawed his way back.

Going into the final heads-up, Tang faced a daunting 1:5 chip deficit against Austrian player Klemens Roiter. Yet again, Tang displayed his experience and determination, soon taking the lead.
In the decisive hand of the tournament, Tang with A h J h called Roiter’s all-in with A c 7 d. The board 6 h 9 c 6 s 6 d 3 c sealed Tang’s victory, after which the new champion buried his face in his hands at the table, overcome with emotion.
For 33-year-old Tang, this marked his sixth title in the Triton circuit, but his first in a Main Event. He expressed special gratitude to his girlfriend Katie for her unwavering support and to the entire Triton family. "Triton is in my blood, my veins. I love Triton. My career wouldn’t be where it is without Mr. Paul Phua and this whole family," Tang revealed after achieving his biggest career win to date.
