Event #24: $25K High Roller 6-Handed NLH was one of the highlights of the 57th WSOP series, attracting a total of 242 entries. This massive turnout generated a prize pool of $5,687,000, with Martirosian taking home the lion's share of nearly $1.3 million.
Martirosian took charge of the tournament from the second day and entered the final table as the second chip leader. Soon, he overtook Sean Winter to spend most of the final day as the chipleader. Despite the presence of stars like Chance Kornuth and Klemens Roiter, Martirosian admitted that his toughest opponent in the heads-up was, in fact, his friend Plesuv.
The heads-up battle lasted nearly three hours and can be viewed through the final table's livestream replay on the WSOP YouTube channel:
The decisive moment came during a dramatic flip when Martirosian's pocket 4 s 4 d held against Plesuv's A h 9 c on the board K s T c 3 h Q s 5 c. Despite his previous successes, Martirosian considers this victory exceptional. "It's a special win. WSOP comes once a year, and you don't win every year," he said with a smile.
After a grueling eight-hour final marathon, the champion was ready for a hearty meal but stayed focused on the game. "I was prepared to play for another three hours," said the confident four-time champion.
