Event #60: $50,000 Poker Players Championship attracted a total of 108 elite players, generating a massive prize pool of $5,130,000 and a seven-figure victory for the champion. For Glaser, however, this triumph meant much more than just a financial reward. In addition to the bracelet, he also takes home the coveted Chip Reese Memorial Trophy, and for the first time in history, the winner received a miniature version as a keepsake.
The 37-year-old Brit's victory was particularly emotional. Immediately after the final card was dealt, he dropped to his knees and celebrated in tears with his friends. "It's like a dream. This is the pinnacle of achievement in mixed games," said Glaser, who has now matched the legendary Johnny Moss with his ninth bracelet. Only five names sit ahead of him in the historical rankings: Hellmuth, Ivey, Brunson, Seidel, and Chan.
The path to victory led through a star-studded final table. In the final three, Glaser had to face poker giants Josh Arieh and Phil Ivey. The legendary Ivey, chasing his 12th title, eventually exited the tournament in 3rd place after falling short against Arieh in Limit 2-7 Triple Draw.
The final heads-up began with Arieh in the lead, but Glaser quickly turned the match in his favor in the Stud and No-Limit Hold'em disciplines. The decisive hand came in Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better. Both players held similar starting hands, yet Glaser's A h Q d 7 d 4 c found two better pairs on the board K c 4 s 3 h Q s J d compared to Arieh’s A s 7 s 4 d 3 s.
