Event #26, a $2,000 buy-in No-Limit Hold'em tournament, attracted a total of 968 entries, creating a prize pool of $1,723,040. The third and final day saw the last 12 players competing, with Dunaway beginning from the third position in chips. At this point, he was the only player already holding a bracelet.
The final day was full of dramatic moments. The initial excitement came courtesy of French player Erwann Pecheux, who eliminated two opponents in one hand with aces, building a massive chiplead. Dunaway patiently awaited his opportunities, systematically knocking out players like Sami Bechahed, Albert Calderon, and Kimon Fountoukidis.
Heading into the final heads-up, Pecheux had a 2:1 lead, but Dunaway quickly leveled the score and then surged ahead to claim victory. In the tournament's last hand, Pecheux went all-in with A h 9 s, but Dunaway's pair of 4 d 4 h held on the board 7 s 2 s K c T d Q c. For Pecheux, it was a bitter taste of defeat, as he finished second at the WSOP for the second time in his career.
