WSOP 2026: Dong Chen Stops Benny Glaser from Claiming Ninth Bracelet (Event #38)

Article cover

Event #38: $10K Limit Hold'em attracted 121 players, showcasing an array of global stars. The final lineup was packed with icons. Besides Chen, the battle for the title included eight-time champion Benny Glaser, Jeremy Ausmus aiming for his seventh bracelet, and the legendary Gus Hansen, who returned to a WSOP final table after a 15-year hiatus.

Chen's victory is even more impressive considering it was only his second Limit Hold'em tournament ever. He compensated for his inexperience in this discipline with aggressiveness honed in No-Limit Hold'em. “This isn't my first rodeo in poker. I've battled legends in No-Limit Hold'em, but Limit Hold'em is something new that I've recently unlocked, so it feels wonderful,” the winner stated.

The decisive moment came in heads-up play, where Chen steadily chipped away at Glaser. In the final hand, Chen called Glaser's all-in with A s 4 s, while Glaser held T c 8 s. Although Glaser hit two pairs on the turn J s 8 c 6 s T h, the river 5 s gave Chen a flush, sealing his victory. Dong Chen thus became only the third player from China to win more than one WSOP bracelet.
