Article cover

Event #55: $50K High Roller PLO drew the absolute elite of the poker world to the Horseshoe & Paris Las Vegas. A total of 110 entries were recorded, creating a prizepool of $5,225,000. The top 17 players shared the prize money, including stars like Daniel Negreanu, Jason Koon, and Jeremy Ausmus.

The final table was not short on big names, making Simao's path to the title challenging. Moreover, he started the heads-up against Santhosh Suvarna with nearly a 1:2 chip deficit. Suvarna even increased his lead at the beginning of the duel, but Simao managed a crucial double-up on the board 5 s 2 c 5 h 7 h 5 d with A s A h A d K h against K c Q d 8 d 6 h, which put him back in the race for first place.

From that point, Simao took control and shortly after celebrated his victory. In the decisive moment, Simao held A s A c J h 9 c and called Suvarna's all-in with T h T c 8 c 6 s. The board A d 8 h 7 h 5 c K h brought a set for the Brazilian on the flop, which sealed his triumph.

Simao secured his fourth career bracelet and became the second Brazilian titleholder at WSOP 2026, following compatriot Yuri Dzivielevski, who finished sixth in this event.
