Event #29: $50K High Roller NLH drew the world's elite, resulting in 167 entries. This massive turnout generated a prize pool of $7,932,500, with the winner set to receive the largest prize of the current season – $1,922,870.
It was Santhosh Suvarna who celebrated victory, matching Nipun Java for the number of bracelets among Indian players and solidifying his top spot on India's all-time money list with over $22 million in winnings.
The final day was full of twists and turns. Suvarna entered the final table as the chipleader, but he was soon overtaken by the extraordinarily aggressive Russian, Anatoly Zlotnikov, who at one point held more than half of all chips in play.
However, Suvarna patiently waited for his moment. In a crucial hand, he read Zlotnikov's bluff with his flush, reclaiming the lead. Despite his explosive start, Zlotnikov ultimately finished in fifth place.
In heads-up play, Suvarna and Chang Lee started with even stacks. The lead changed hands several times, but Suvarna eventually built a commanding lead.
In the final hand of the heads-up, Chang Lee went all-in with K s K d on a turn of 9 d 9 c T d 8 c. Suvarna held 8 h 7 h and needed help. “It's magic,” he later described the moment when the river brought 8 s, completing his set and sealing his triumph.
