One of the first Omaha tournaments of the series attracted a total of 716 entries, pushing the prize pool to $3,293,600. The absolute favorite before the final day was Jesse Lonis, who entered the last seven with a massive stack representing half of all the chips in play.
His eventual conqueror, Yang Wang, started from the sixth position. Lonis was aiming for his third career bracelet, and it seemed nothing could stop him. However, Wang quickly took the initiative and built a commanding lead by evening break.
Although Lonis reached the heads-up, he was trailing nearly 5:1. The decisive hand of the tournament was particularly harsh for Lonis. On the board 8 s A h 5 s T d T s, the players went all-in, with Lonis completing a flush on the river holding A s K s Q d 9 s. However, Wang improved to a full house on the river with Q c T c 9 d 5 d, sealing his momentous victory.
