WSOP 2026: Yanting Jiang Takes Home the Bracelet and Over a Million Dollars (Event #89)

Event #89: $3K Mid-Stakes Championship NLH was one of the most significant events on this year's WSOP calendar. The tournament attracted a massive 3,668 entries, generating a prize pool of $9,793,560.

Yanting Jiang's journey to the title was like a fairy tale. On the day of the third playing day, she celebrated her birthday and gifted herself the best present by advancing to the final as the dominant chipleader. Jiang, a single mother of two, couldn't hide her emotions after the victory: “I still can't believe it. I feel happy. I want to take my kids on a vacation now,” she stated in an interview following her life-changing win.

The final fourth day began with 16 finalists. Although the day started with quick eliminations of names like Mark Newhouse (14th place) and Barry Shulman (16th place), the final table featured an unprecedented six-hour stretch with ten players. While spectators didn't witness any eliminations during this period, there were 13 successful double-ups.

The unusual situation was interrupted by the elimination of Luis Yepez in 10th place. From that moment on, Jiang shifted into high gear, turning into a tornado that swept away the rest of the final table, claiming the last four eliminations in the tournament. She ended the dream run of Maurice Hawkins, a WSOP Circuit titleholder with 25 rings, who ultimately finished in 4th place after a significant comeback from a single small blind.

In the final heads-up, Jiang faced Chahn Jung. The decisive hand came when Jung went all-in with A s 9 s, and Jiang called with J h 6 h. Although Jung hit top pair on the board K h 5 c A d T h 5 h, the river completed a flush for Jiang, and another female champion was crowned at WSOP 2026.
