WSOPC Amsterdam: Pedro Moreira Jorge Conquers the Locals to Win the Main Event Gold Ring

Article cover

This year's Main Event, with a buy-in of €1,500, attracted a massive field, generating a total of 881 entries. Thanks to the high turnout, the original guarantee of €500,000 was significantly exceeded, with the final prize pool reaching €1,189,350.

Eleven players entered the final day, led by local chipleader Wesley Klerx. You can watch the atmosphere and progress of the final table through the livestream replay on YouTube:

The final day started rather unusually. Shortstack Bjoirn Mac Donald arrived late at the casino, losing almost half of his stack to the blinds before he even took his seat. Shortly after his arrival, he was eliminated in 11th place.

The early star of the final table was Mats Veerman, who took the chiplead after eliminating Yehven Korynetskyi (10th place) and proceeded to knock out Austria’s Gerald Karlic (9th place) and original leader Wesley Klerx (8th place). However, as time went on, Portugal's Moreira began to emerge as a contender, taking the lead after the elimination of the last woman in the tournament, Canada’s Nohad Teliani (5th place).

Despite the Dutch dominance that followed, the Portuguese player remained unstoppable. Pedro Olaio Moreira Jorge claimed his first WSOPC gold ring, a cash prize of €201,276, and a $5,000 package to WSOP Paradise in the Bahamas.
