The WSOPC stop in Elgin once again demonstrated that even smaller poker destinations can offer a quality festival with a superb atmosphere. The World Series of Poker Circuit keeps returning to this city, steadily building a loyal player base. The recent event featured a diverse lineup of tournaments, strong participation from both local and international players, and several notable stories. The highlight of the festival was the Main Event, boasting an attractive prize pool and a thrilling finale, while the side events also captured attention with high participation and dynamic play.
The Main Event with a $1,700 buy-in recorded a total of 593 entries, generating a massive $898,395 prizepool, surpassing the original $750,000 guarantee.
Grant Juric entered the final day as the dominant chipleader with a stack of 173 big blinds, holding a substantial lead over the rest of the final table. Although a dramatic heads-up against Lee Rzentkowski brought several twists, with Juric briefly losing his lead, he ultimately held on to secure his first ring. His victory awarded him his first six-figure career prize of $167,608.
