The $5K King's Debut tournament, with a guaranteed prizepool of $1,000,000, drew many notable names and registered a total of 214 entries.
The journey to the trophy was anything but easy for the new champion. Yee had to invest in five entries before finally advancing to the second day. Even at the final table, he didn't start as the chipleader.
In the finale, Dutch player Michel Molenaar dominated, eliminating most of his opponents and entering the heads-up with a massive lead of 38 million to 14 million chips.
Yee, however, staged a rapid turnaround. First, he cut the deficit after a daring call with king-high and then doubled his stack in a crucial flip with A-J against K-9. In the decisive hand of the tournament, Yee's 8 c 8 s held strong against Molenaar's all-in with 7 d 5 d on a board J s 2 d 3 d 5 h A h, sealing his first victory on the KPC circuit.
