The prestigious EPT festival at the Catalonian Casino Barcelona has reached its penultimate day. Only the top 13 players remain in the Main Event from an original massive field of 1,823 entries. These players are guaranteed at least €81,350, but everyone’s eyes are on the grand prize of €1,370,050. Today’s goal is to narrow the field down to the final six contenders.
Italian Manuel Ferrari leads the pack with a massive stack of 10,625,000 chips. Local fans will be cheering for the Spanish duo, Jose Criado and Gerard Carbo.
The spotlight is on Nicolas Chouity from Lebanon. The EPT Monte Carlo champion of 2010 is the only former champion left in the game and has a chance to become just the fifth player in history to win two EPT Main Events. Other strong contenders include Dutchman Joris Ruijs and Brazilian Barbara Akemi.
