In poker, one of the fundamental unwritten rules is to never celebrate victory until the last card is dealt or until your opponents have no chance left to win. Even more crucial is avoiding celebration when you're all-in and there's still side action happening among other players at the table. This is a lesson adult film star Nicolette Shea will remember for life, as she experienced unbelievable and unforgiving poker karma on the popular show Hustler Casino Live.
Premature Celebration
Famous poker vlogger Mariano Grandoli kicked off this particular hand by raising to $2,000 with A d Q d. Nicolette Shea found pocket tens T h T d and went all-in with her stack of $19,500.
A player nicknamed "AI Guy" held Q h Q c and called. Mariano also decided to call, taking the players to the flop.
The flop revealed J s T c 3 h, giving Shea a dream set. Instead of waiting for the side pot action between AI Guy and Mariano to conclude, Shea jumped up, shouted "Yes!" and walked away from the table to celebrate her set with the show's producer.
Commentator David Tuchman immediately reacted to her behavior: "You can't do that! The side action is still ongoing."
Brutal River Karma
Shea's early celebration significantly impacted the hand's progression. Seeing the strength of her move, AI Guy chose to bet $30,000, and Mariano, holding a straight draw and aware of facing a set, folded his hand.
With Mariano folding ace-queen, AI Guy had just one last out in the deck. The players agreed to deal the turn and river only once, competing for a total pot of $60,100.
The turn 7 d changed nothing. But on the river, like a bolt from the blue, appeared the deck's last magical queen. "The last queen! Dare I say that's poker karma?" remarked commentator David Tuchman in awe.
Unhappy Departure from the Table
For Nicolette Shea, this hand had devastating consequences. After losing the entire pot, she quietly left the table and exited the broadcast, ending her evening with nearly a $30,000 loss. In contrast, AI Guy finished the night with over $40,000 in profit.
This hand quickly secured its place among the most famous examples of why it's not wise to count chickens before they hatch in poker.
