After Alex Theologis and Brazilian pro Kelvin Kerber, the cameras have turned their focus to Denys Chufarin – a Ukrainian player, streamer, and ambassador for GGPoker UA. His story isn't just another tale of climbing from low stakes to five-figure buy-in tournaments. This new installment showcases a man who swapped a secure legal career for the uncertain life of a professional player and later had to leave the country where he had built his home due to war.
From Lawyer to Professional Player
Chufarin was born in 1983 in Kyiv and worked as a lawyer before venturing into the world of professional poker. He started playing in 2009, making his first deposit of $65. This seemingly modest amount became the foundation of a career that gradually opened doors to respected online professionals. Within his first year, he managed to grow his bankroll to approximately $30,000, and in the second year, he surpassed the $100,000 mark. Poker transitioned from being a side income to fully replacing his legal profession. His largest online win was $276,000, achieved in a SCOOP series tournament.

The Russian invasion of Ukraine impacted Chufarin's life in ways that no challenging session or million-dollar tournament could have prepared him for. From Commentary Booth to GGMillion$ Title
Chufarin's understanding of the game and ability to explain complex decisions earned him a spot behind the mic during GGMillion$ broadcasts. However, in November 2025, he showed that he belongs among the world elite not just as an analyst. Entering the final table of the prestigious tournament with a $10,000 buy-in, he had a stack of 29 big blinds. Gradually, he eliminated several top-tier opponents, including Mikita Badziakouski and Michael Addamo. In heads-up play, he defeated Ilya Anatsky and claimed $336,740 for his first GGMillion$ title. GGPoker hailed his victory as one of the biggest comebacks of the season.
