Greek Poker Odyssey Heads to Semifinals: Toshev Leads the Last 30 Players in Record-Breaking Main Event

Article cover

This year, the Greek Poker Odyssey has once again delivered a poker week reinforcing Greece's ambition to grow on the poker scene. The highlight of the festival was the €1,000 Main Event sponsored by Novibet, attracting 414 entries and creating a prizepool of €372,600. This is a record for a Novibet event in Greece, adding even more prestige to the entire series.

Day 2 began with 111 players, but after six 60-minute levels, only 30 players remain. They will return to action on June 18 at 2:00 PM local time for the semifinal Day 3, playing blinds at 20,000/40,000/40,000 and 75-minute levels. The goal is clear: make it to the final table.

The most intense moment hit at the bubble. With 53 paid places, Panagiotis Arkeles found himself in a precarious situation that threatened an exit without a payout. Facing aces with kings against Lulei Hu, the board came through with a runner-runner flush, allowing Arkeles to survive one of the day's most emotional moments. Shortly after, the bubble burst, securing a minimum of €1,900 for the remaining players.

The biggest story at the end of the day was written by Bulgarian Dimitar Toshev. Despite a setback with queens against aces during Day 2, he finished strong. In a massive hand against David Kozma, both big stacks went all-in, with Toshev holding aces to Kozma's kings. The board offered no surprises, and Toshev catapulted to the lead.

He ended the day with a stack of 5,370,000, equivalent to 179 big blinds. Heading into semifinal Day 3 as the clear chipleader, all eyes will be on him. In second is Italian Lulei Hu with a stack of 3,180,000, followed by another Bulgarian, Borislav Yosifov, with 2,970,000.
