partypoker Tour Castellón: Dinu Turns €150 into Title and €16,000 Win

Article cover

Following events in Seville and Madrid, the partypoker Tour moved to the Spanish Mediterranean coast. Orenes Gran Casino de Castellón is hosting the third Spanish stop of the season from October 5 to 11, featuring a mix of accessible tournaments and the series' marquee events. Alongside the Mini Main Event and Main Event, there's also the €250 Mystery Bounty and €1,000 High Roller.

Recently, we followed the PP Tour in Glasgow, where Robbie Bull dominated the Main Event with 355 entries, taking home £28,500 without a deal. The local player sealed his triumph after a heads-up with Abdul Mukit that lasted over 50 hands. You can revisit his journey to the trophy in this article.

Guarantee Nearly Doubled

The Mini Main Event with a €150 buy-in attracted 727 entries, pushing the original €50,000 guarantee to a final prizepool of €90,875. A standout during the final day was Matt Staples. The well-known poker streamer and partypoker ambassador battled through the 727 entries to reach the final table and even took the lead during its course. After eliminating Hugo Gotuzzo in ninth place, he held 7,625,000 chips and was a major contender for the title.

However, his ambitions were dashed by two crushing hands. First, with A h A d, he faced future champion Dinu, who completed a straight on the turn with J d T d on a board of Q d 8 h 2 c 9 s. Soon after, he shoved his remaining chips with A h T h, but Alberto Martinez held A c K h. The flop brought A d A s K c, giving Martinez a full house, and the remaining cards offered no help. Staples exited in fifth place, earning €3,750.

After Staples' elimination, Fabian Torres bowed out in fourth place, followed by Christian Martin in third, whose tens were no match for Martinez's fours when he made a set on the flop. The decisive hand of the heads-up between Martinez and Dinu delivered another hard blow. On the board of K d 7 c 3 c 7 d 5 c, Martinez held a flush with K c 8 c and pushed all-in on the river. Dinu immediately called with K h 7 h, and his full house secured the title. Martinez took home €11,000 for his second-place finish.
