The prestigious Event #94: $10K NLH 6-Handed attracted a total of 558 players to Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas, pushing the prizepool to a remarkable $5,189,400. The top 85 players shared in the financial rewards, but even three days of play weren't enough to crown a winner.

An unplanned fourth day saw the final four players return, led by Bulgarian chipleader Fahredin Mustafov. For David Peters, it was a chance to turn around an otherwise lackluster summer. “My summer was about building big stacks and promising runs that always ended in disappointment. Winning the last tournament of the series is incredible,” Peters admitted after his victory.

The finale progressed at a breakneck pace. Even with deep stacks at the day's start, it took Peters just 75 minutes to finish the tournament. All three eliminations on the final day occurred within a crucial 15-minute span.

Heads-up Decided in a Single Hand

The path to the title accelerated when Peters knocked out Calvin Anderson in third place, who was chasing his third bracelet this summer. Peters' pair of nines held against Anderson's deuces, putting the American into the heads-up against Mustafov with a 3:1 lead.

The final showdown for the bracelet lasted only a single hand. Mustafov merely limped with 5 s 5 d, leading Peters to respond with an all-in featuring A s 7 h. Mustafov called, but the flop Q c 9 h 7 d put Peters ahead. The turn 3 h and river J s offered no help to the Bulgarian, sealing Peters' victory.

This win places David Peters in the elite club of five-time WSOP champions alongside names like Eli Elezra, John Juanda, and Stu Ungar. It also marks his 13th tournament cash surpassing a million-dollar prize, bringing his career earnings past $50 million.
