WSOP 2026: Dylan Smith Finally Claims First Bracelet in Mixed Big Bet (Event #71)

Article cover

Event #71: $2,500 Mixed Big Bet is one of the most technically demanding events in the WSOP calendar, combining seven different poker variants exclusively in No-Limit and Pot-Limit formats. This year's edition attracted 388 entries, generating a total prizepool of $858,850.

Smith, who favors big bet games for the opportunity to put opponents to tough decisions, showcased exceptional form throughout the three days of play. On his way to the title, he faced fierce competition, including Japanese star Naoya Kihara, who had already won two bracelets this year and was aiming for a third in this event. However, Smith eliminated Kihara in third place during the No-Limit 2-7 Single Draw.

With this outstanding finish, Kihara moved to second place in the provisional WSOP Player of the Year rankings.

The final heads-up against Matt Vengrin began with Smith holding a massive lead, more than 4:1. Although Vengrin doubled up with some luck in PLO, Smith retained his advantage.

The decision came in the Pot-Limit 2-7 Triple Draw. Vengrin went all-in after the first draw, and both players stood pat after the second. Smith revealed a winning hand of 8-7-6-4-3, which outclassed his opponent's 10-8-7-5-2. The newly crowned champion couldn't hide his excitement but admitted his thoughts are already turning to the upcoming Main Event.
