WSOP 2026: Koji Fujimoto Foils Schulman's Bid for Ninth Bracelet (Event #67)

Article cover

Event #67: $10K Limit 2-7 Triple Draw Championship is one of the most technically demanding events on the WSOP calendar and consistently attracts the world's elite. This year's edition saw a total of 176 entries, creating a prizepool of $1,636,800. The top 27 players shared the financial rewards, with notable names like John Juanda and Viktor Blom making it to the money.

The main storyline of the final day was Nick Schulman's pursuit of his ninth career bracelet. Schulman entered the final table as the chipleader, with the chance to become only the eighth player in history to reach this milestone (just a day after Benny Glaser achieved it).

The final table featured a star-studded lineup including Todd Brunson, aiming for the twelfth Brunson family bracelet, and Japan's Naoya Kihara, who already secured two bracelets from WSOP 2026. However, both exited the tournament in seventh and sixth places, respectively.

The ultimate showdown between Fujimoto and Schulman lasted nearly three hours. Although Schulman initially led, Fujimoto's patient play turned the tide, and he maintained a solid lead in the latter part of the match.

In the tournament's final hand, Schulman went all-in following the first draw. After the third draw, Fujimoto revealed a 7-6-5-3-3 hand, completing a pair with his last card. Schulman, however, showed 9-7-6-4-4, with a higher pair.
