Event #74: $1,500 8-Game Mixed attracted a total of 766 entries, creating a prizepool of $1,016,865. The last 13 players entered the final day, but the spotlight was mainly on Shaun Deeb, who was aiming to replicate the success of Michael Mizrachi, who had just clinched his ninth bracelet the day before.
Although Deeb entered the final day as the chipleader, the afternoon did not go in his favor. After a series of unsuccessful hands, he found himself at the bottom with only a few chips left.
However, the reigning WSOP Player of the Year didn't give up. After several quick double-ups, he gained the momentum needed to overpower his opponents. He eventually eliminated Jasswinder Lally, Patrick Mahoney, and Itsuko Yoroi to reach the final heads-up.

In the battle for the title, Deeb faced off against fellow countryman Dean Joe. Their duel lasted over two hours, with the lead shifting multiple times. The decision came in the Pot-Limit Omaha discipline. On the flop of 7 d T d 4 c, the players went all-in. Joe held A c T h 6 s 5 s for top pair and a straight draw, but Deeb turned over A h K c K h 3 s. The turn J c and the river 2 d didn’t help Joe, and Deeb could celebrate.
With this triumph, Shaun Deeb cemented his name in the WSOP chronicles, joining Benny Glaser, Johnny Moss, and Michael Mizrachi in a tie for sixth place in history with his ninth bracelet. He also reclaimed the top spot in the WSOP Player of the Year standings, striving to make history with the first-ever title defense and his third overall win in this category.
