WSOPC Liechtenstein: Benjamin Hammann Claims Main Event Title

Journey to the Ring

The final day kicked off under the leadership of Swiss player Angelo Arossi, who entered the final eight as the massive chipleader after two days of complete dominance.

However, Hammann was not to be overshadowed, displaying a relentless performance that saw him eliminate five of the seven opponents at the final table, including Arossi himself, who finished third. He claimed his first WSOPC gold ring and pocketed 190,392 CHF from the prizepool of over a million, marking a career-best for him.

Though the final began with a hint of a speedy outcome, the concluding heads-up against Romanian Neculai Macovei turned into a true marathon, stretching across three levels. The lead shifted several times, but Hammann managed to regain momentum at crucial moments.

The tournament concluded rather unexpectedly. The board showed 4 s 8 d 4 d 7 c 3 h when Hammann pushed all-in with 6 c 4 c. After a lengthy contemplation, Macovei called but his hand, 7 s 5 d, fell short.

“It's crazy, it hasn't really sunk in yet,” admitted the delighted winner shortly after the tournament. Despite achieving the greatest result of his career, Hammann planned a modest celebration – perhaps just a beer, as he had a drive home with his girlfriend and dog ahead.
