EPT Barcelona: Thomas Eychenne Dominates Again with an Incredible Double

The tournament, a highlight of the Barcelona festival, attracted a huge number of players. The registration count hit an impressive 1,551 entries, creating a total prize pool of €3,761,175.

Entering the final day were the last 14 top players. Thomas Eychenne started as the chipleader and leveraged this advantage with the coolness of a seasoned champion.

The final table featured a remarkably strong international lineup, including former EPT Cyprus Main Event champion Gilles Simon and Czech WSOP bracelet holder Zdeněk Žižka, who finished in 9th place with €54,160.

Eychenne was an unstoppable force at the final table, responsible for multiple eliminations. In the closing stages, he knocked out all players from fifth place onwards and entered the French heads-up with a commanding 6:1 lead against compatriot Virgile Turchi.

The duel lasted just one hand! Turchi opted for a quick all-in with a T d 9 h combination but ran straight into Eychenne's pair of Q d Q h. Although Turchi found a pair on the flop T c 5 s 6 d and the turn 7 c gave him a gutshot chance, the river 3 c did not bring a miracle. Thomas Eychenne thus sealed his second greatest career success, affirming that Barcelona is indeed his promised land.
